A compassionate and clear guide to starting therapy with us
What kind of therapy do you offer?
We specialize in trauma-informed psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, couples, and families. Our clinicians draw from a range of approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, somatic work, drama therapy, and IFS. We also offer support for parents, family members of individuals with special needs, and creatives seeking clarity and emotional freedom. Learn more about our services here and our specialties here.
Are sessions virtual or in-person?
Most of our sessions are held virtually through secure video platforms, but we do offer limited in-person sessions as well. If you're interested in meeting in person, reach out to learn more about current availability. All clients must reside in New York State, where our clinicians are licensed.
What issues do you help with?
We work with trauma, complex PTSD, mood disorders, eating disorders, anxiety, burnout, identity exploration, parenting stress, perinatal mental health, and more. Many clients are navigating significant life transitions or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. Therapy can help you find steadier ground and reconnect with yourself. What’s the difference between therapy and executive coaching?
Therapy helps individuals address emotional patterns, mental health concerns, and long-standing relational dynamics. It’s a clinical process focused on healing and insight. Executive coaching, on the other hand, is a non-clinical, action-oriented service designed to support professionals, leaders, and entrepreneurs navigating career transitions, burnout, and questions of purpose or alignment. Our coaching services integrate psychological insight with practical tools to foster resilience, grounded decision-making, and values-based leadership.
What is trauma-informed care?
Trauma-informed therapy means we center safety, choice, and collaboration in every session. Whether or not you identify as someone with trauma, this approach honors the nervous system, recognizes the impact of past experiences, and avoids re-traumatization. It’s about helping you feel empowered, not pathologized.
What are your fees?
Session rates range from $275 to $400 per 45-minute session, depending on clinician experience. We offer sliding-scale fees based on financial need because we never want cost to be a barrier to quality mental health care. Contact us to learn more about how Overture Therapy can fit into your life.
Do you take insurance?
We are an out-of-network provider, which means we do not directly accept insurance. However, we’re happy to provide superbills you can submit for potential reimbursement. If you're unsure how that works, we can walk you through it. Don’t hesitate to reach out.
How do I get started?
Please fill out our secure contact form to schedule a free consultation call. This lets us hear what you're looking for and match you with the correct clinician. If we’re not the best fit, we’ll do our best to connect you with someone who is.
What’s the difference between individual therapy and coaching for creatives?
Individual therapy is a clinical service designed to support your mental health, emotional healing, and overall well-being. It often involves exploring deeper patterns, past experiences, and trauma in a safe, supportive space. In contrast, coaching for creatives is a non-clinical, future-focused service that helps artists, performers, and visionaries navigate creative blocks, burnout, and transitions. Sessions may include reflective tools, somatic techniques, and creative exploration to support growth and clarity outside the therapy room.
Do you work with teens?
Yes. We support adolescents who are navigating identity shifts, school-related stress, family conflict, or mood and anxiety disorders. Our work with teens often includes creative methods like psychodrama, narrative work, or somatic tools to support self-expression.
How often will we meet for therapy or coaching?
Most clients start with weekly sessions, though some move to biweekly or monthly over time. We’ll work together to create a schedule that supports your needs, goals, and availability. Coaching clients sometimes opt for intensives or project-based timelines.
